Roadrunners outlast Huskies Sunday night

HOUSTON – The Roadrunners closed out the non-conference slate with a 1-0 victory over Houston Baptist Sunday night.
 
UTSA improves to 4-2-1 on the season, while HBU falls to 1-6.
 

 
With just three minutes remaining in the first half, freshman Deja Sandoval scored her first-collegiate goal off a corner kick. Maci Bakarich served the ball into the box, Sarina Russ headed the ball to Kaitlyn Bumgarner who settled it for Sandoval to score off one touch.
 
The Roadrunners posted 11 shots, with six on target, while holding the Huskies to just four shots, none on goal.
 
Ellis Patterson, Lexi Bolton and Kendall Kloza each had two shots with Patterson's both being on target.
 
Sophie Milich picked up her third shutout of the season and is now tied for eighth in career shutouts.
 
UTSA returns to the field on Sept. 22 when they host Middle Tennessee to open conference action.
