UTSA set for Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's golf team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, which will be contested Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 16-17, at Cherokee Country Club (par 71/5,900 yards).
 
The Roadrunners will compete against Augusta, Charlotte, Chattanooga, East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Kent State, LSU, Maryland, Memphis, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, South Dakota State, Southern Miss, Tennessee and Tulane in the two-day, 54-hole, stroke-play event. The field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round is slated for Tuesday.
 
UTSA is coming off a 12th-place finish in the season-opening Minnesota Invitational last week. Nicole Polivchak led the Roadrunners by tying for 12th, as the junior transfer carded a 1-over-par 145 (70-75). Hannah Holzmann fired a 148 (75-73) to tie for 30th.
 
Ana Gonzalez tied for eighth place with a 217 (68-78-71) to guide the Roadrunners to a tie for fifth place at last year's Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. The 2019 Conference USA individual champion also set a school record by firing a 205 (70-67-68) to finish as runner-up at the same tournament as a true freshman two years ago.
