Knauer adds former Roadrunner Jake Goodman as volunteer coach

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head men's golf coach John Knauer announced Thursday that he has added former Roadrunner Jake Goodman as a volunteer coach.

"We are so pleased to have Jake join us in coaching our team," said Knauer, who is entering his 12th season at the helm. "He has a great golf mind and still plays at the top level of amateur golf. He will be a great asset to our program."

A native of San Antonio, Goodman played in all 12 tournaments as a graduate transfer senior in 2017-18 in his only season with the Roadrunners after a three-year career at Texas A&M. The Johnson High School product posted a 73.86 stroke average and a trio of top-20 finishes. He tied for ninth after firing a 3-under-par 210 (72-67-71) at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate and he finished in a tie for 12th with a 5-under 211 (70-71-70) at the Border Olympics. A Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member, he carded a 212 (69-75-68) to tie for 17th at the All-American Intercollegiate and posted a 219 (72-73-74) to help UTSA win the Wyoming Cowboy Classic team title.

UTSA will tee off the 2019-20 season by hosting the Lone Star Invitational on Sept. 16-17 at TPC San Antonio's Oaks Course.
