UTSA announces Tickets for Troops cause for Army game

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA Athletics, in partnership with the UTSA Office of Veteran and Military Affairs, has announced a Ticket for Troops cause for the Roadrunners' home football game against Army West Point.

San Antonio is "Military City USA" and to recognize and show appreciation to those who defend our country, Tickets for Troops can be purchased for $10 each. UTSA then will work with local military and veteran affairs offices to provide each of those tickets to local active-duty and veteran military members to attend the Military Appreciation Game against Army on Sept. 14. Kickoff for that contest is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Alamodome and the game will be televised nationally on NFL Network.

Individuals and businesses can join the cause by purchasing tickets online or calling 210-458-UTSA (8872).

In 2018, UTSA's Operation Defend the Dome ticket donation program saw more than 17,000 tickets donated to local active-duty and veteran military members and their families for the UTSA-Baylor game. The crowd of 42,071 for that contest last September was the second-largest home attendance figure in program history.

The Roadrunners will open the 2019 season by hosting UIW at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Hometown Showdown at the Alamodome.

UTSA also will host four Conference USA games at the Alamodome, including UAB on Oct. 12, Rice for the annual homecoming game on Oct. 19, Southern Miss on Nov. 16 and Florida Atlantic on Nov. 23. All four contests will kick off at 5 p.m.

Season, single-game and away-game tickets are on sale now by calling or texting 210-458-UTSA (8872) or visiting goUTSA.com/tickets.
