SAN ANTONIO — UTSA fans can get a sneak peek of the Roadrunners football team and meet the student-athletes, as the inaugural Runners at the Park presented by Methodist Texsan Hospital will be held this Saturday, Aug. 17, at Park West Athletics Complex (8000 N Loop 1604 W).
Admission and parking are free and gates to the complex will open at 9 a.m. The football team will go through a practice from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. and there will be an autograph session with the players from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
Members of the UTSA soccer and volleyball teams also will be on hand for an interactive skills-and-drills session beginning at 10 a.m.
The family-friendly event also will feature a Rowdy Kids Zone with inflatables, face painting, cornhole and more. Methodist Texsan Hospital will host a "Cool Zone" with fans, misters, tents and giveaways.
Food trucks will be on site. Methodist Texsan Hospital will have breakfast tacos and bottled water for sale with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Association.
The UTSA Ticket Sales Team will be set up near the main entrance for fans who have yet to purchase their tickets for the 2019 season.
The Roadrunners will open their ninth year of play on Saturday, Aug. 31, against UIW. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. at the Alamodome.
Other home games on the slate include Army West Point (Sept. 14), UAB (Oct. 12), Rice (Oct. 19), Southern Miss (Nov. 16) and Florida Atlantic (Nov. 23).
