Soccer announces 2019 schedule

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA head soccer coach Derek Pittman announced the 2019 schedule on Thursday, which features 10 home matches and two tournaments.

"Our staff is extremely excited about the tough competition and balance of home and away games this schedule has for our second season as Roadrunners," Pittman said. "Our 10 home matches include some great opponents and will be great for our fans as we continue to build our community and campus supporters. We have some great games against some local and regional rivals as well as some perennial NCAA tournament teams in Oklahoma State and South Florida."

UTSA will begin the year with two exhibition matches when it hosts UIW (Aug. 11) and plays at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Aug. 16), which starts a three-game road trip. The Roadrunners play in the Lamar tournament Aug. 22-25 where they will face Louisiana-Lafayette (Aug. 22) and Oklahoma State (Aug. 25).

The Birds return home to play I-35 rival Texas State on Aug. 30 before traveling to Grand Canyon on Sept. 1.

For the first time since the 2013 season, the Roadrunners will host a tournament Sept. 6 and 8. UTSA will play Cleveland State on Friday and South Florida on Sunday, while also hosting two neutral matches.

UTSA closes the non-conference portion when Oral Roberts comes to the Alamo City on Sept. 13 and the Roadrunners travel to Houston to take on Houston Baptist (Sept. 15).

The Birds open the C-USA slate playing host to Middle Tennessee on Sept. 22. A week later, Rice comes back to San Antonio to take on the Roadrunners on Sept. 29. UTSA plays defending conference tournament champions, North Texas, on Oct. 6.

The following weekend, the Roadrunners travel to Florida Atlantic (Oct. 11) and Marshall (Oct. 13).

The final two matches at Park West are Oct. 17 and Oct. 20 when UTSA hosts Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech, respectively.

The Roadrunners wrap up the season with three road matches at Old Dominion (Oct. 24), Charlotte (Oct. 24) and UTEP (Nov. 1).

"Our C-USA schedule is also highlighted with great home games against a few of the top schools in the conference," Pittman said. "We look forward to hosting Middle Tennessee, Rice and North Texas to start things off and feel this schedule will really challenge our squad this fall."

Conference USA will hold its postseason tournament Nov. 6-10 in Denton, Texas.

"We have worked hard to piece together a talented roster of newcomers and returners that will be a joy for our fans to watch this season."
