UTSA wraps up regular season at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –The UTSA and Charlotte three-game weekend series is one of six on the final regular-season weekend of the 2019 NCAA baseball season and each will impact the Conference USA Baseball Championship presented by the Air Force Reserve. 
 
UTSA enters the final series seventh in the conference standings at 24—27 overall and 11-15 in C-USA play. The Roadrunners are 5-6 against league foes away from Roadrunner Field, posting a 2-1-1 mark in four series.
 
Charlotte boasts a mark 20-29-1, 10-16-1, sitting in 11thplace in the 12-team league. The Niners are 5-7 through four home conference series, posting a 2-2 record. 
 
All 12 teams are eligible to qualify for the championship with three games left for each team. Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss, WKU and LA Tech secured a spot in the championship but continue to battle for seeding.
 
Rice and Old Dominion need one win and they qualify, while UTSA and Marshall occupy the final two spots. FIU, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte and UAB are on the outside heading into the weekend but are in striking distance, should other teams fall.

Karan Patel recorded his ninth quality start in his last 10 games and moved into fourth all-time in UTSA history with 89 strikeouts in his last outing.

Slater Foust tossed his second – first nine-inning - complete game of the season in his last outing, allowing just one run on two hits.
