SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – Texas State defeated UTSA 14-1 at Bobcat Ballpark Tuesday.
The Roadrunners fall to 13-16 on the season, while the Bobcats improve to 19-10.
UTSA scored first for the ninth-consecutive game when Ryan Stacy blasted his third home run of the season, with one out in the first.
Texas State capitalized on two miscues and added two hits to plate four – all unearned – in the third, before adding seven in the next frame. After working four walks in the fourth, Will Hollis delivered the big blow with a bases-clearing double off the wall in left center, pushing the Bobcats' advantage to 9-1. He stole third and came in on a sacrifice fly before Travon Benton homered to left.
A RBI single and the second sac fly of the game for the Bobcats pushed the deficit to 13-1 after six innings. They added a final tally in the bottom of the eighth.
Bryan Arias, Bryan Sturges, Griffin Paxton, Chase Keng and Hunter Grimes joined Stacy in the hit column with one each.
All nine starting position players in the Texas State lineup scored at least once and eight of the nine registered a hit.
UTSA continues its road trip with a three-game weekend series at Louisiana Tech beginning with a 6 p.m. first pitch in the opener Friday.
