SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team hosts UTEP April 27-28 for the final home games of the season at Roadrunner Field.
Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1 p.m. with the second game starting 30 minutes following the end of the first. Sunday's first pitch is set for 1 p.m. The senior day ceremony will follow the conclusion of the game.
All-time series
The Roadrunners and the Miners are meeting for the 23rd time in program history with UTSA leading the series 14-8. The last meeting between the two teams was April 1-2, 2017 when the Roadrunners won the series 2-1 at home. The Miners are 5-7 in the Alamo City.
Scouting UTSA
UTSA (18-26, 6-12 C-USA) is coming off a 4-2 win over UIW on Tuesday.
All four runs were scored on two-run homers. Kylea Nix hit the first one out of the park in the bottom of the sixth and Madison Nelson hit a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh to take the victory.
Washington leads the team with a .329 batting average, while Madison Nelson leads in the circle with an ERA of 4.44.
Scouting UTEP
UTEP (14-29, 7-11 C-USA) enters the weekend after sweeping Florida Atlantic last weekend. The Miners didn't have a midweek game.
Kacey Duffield leads the team with a .398 batting average with 25 runs, 47 hits, four doubles and 10 home runs. Kira McKechnie leads with a 5.48 ERA and has pitched 104.2 innings, while allowing 96 hits, 91 runs and 109 walks.
