Roadrunners fall in game three to North Texas

DENTON, Texas – North Texas takes game three in a run rule after scoring four runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
 
UTSA falls to 17-26 on the season and 6-12 in C-USA action.
 
The Roadrunners opened the game with a lead-off double to right field from Celeste Loughman. She then stole third as Bailee Baldwin struck out. Madison Nelson hit a single to center field as Loughman scored. UTSA led 1-0 going to the bottom of the frame.
 
In the bottom of the third, Nicole Ochotnicki hit a double to center field to reach scoring position. Katie Clark had a ground out as Ochotnicki advanced to third. Harley Perella hit a sac fly to right field as Ochotnicki scored, tying the game at one.
 
Hannah Gerecke hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead, 2-1. With one out, Ochotnicki singled to right, then stole second. Perella reached second on an error as Clark advanced to third. Lacy Greogory hit a popup and Tayla Evans followed with a three-run homer to left field. Sally Gastelo singled to left field, then stole second to reach scoring position. The Mean Green led 5-1 after the fifth.
 
North Texas added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Sam Rea hit a lead-off single to right field. Camille Grahmann came in to pinch run and stole second. Kenzie Young hit a bunt single to advance Grahmann to third. She then stole second and Ochotnicki followed with a double to right field as Grahmann and Young scored. Clark doubled to down the right field line as Kourtney Williams (pinch runner) scored. Perella tripled as Clark scored, ending the game in a run rule.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on April 23 when they host UIW at 6 p.m.
