Triple jumpers headline Friday action at Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays

AUSTIN — Danielle Spence and Andre Douglas posted top-10 finishes to headline Friday action for the UTSA track & field teams at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Competing in the A section of the women's triple jump, Spence placed 10th overall and ninth among collegiate competitors with a mark of 13.01 meters (42-8 ¼) on Friday afternoon. The sophomore from Jamaica posted her best measurement on her first attempt of the day less than one week after the sophomore from Jamaica set a school record with a 13.66m (43-10) effort at the Roadrunner Invitational.

Meanwhile, Douglas finished seventh overall and sixth among collegians in the B section of the men's triple jump. The sophomore from Jamaica skipped to a distance of 15.09m (49-6 ¼) on his first attempt and ended up just three-fourths of an inch out of a tie for fifth place.

Davante Edwards also was in action, placing 11th in the B section of the men's high jump. The senior from Ennis, Texas, cleared an outdoor season-best height of 2.04m (6-8 ¼) on his second try, which put him just ahead of Texas A&M's Jake Lamberth and one miss out of a tie for seventh place.

In UTSA's final event of the day, the men's distance medley relay team of Luca Chatham, Cameron Hudson, Zack Kovar and Monty Bertschy passed the baton to a time of 10:22.98 for 15th place.

The Roadrunners are slated to race in one event on Saturday, the men's 4x800m relay at 10:50 a.m.
