SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team hosts BYU on Thursday for a doubleheader with the first pitch set for 3 p.m.
All-time series
UTSA and BYU are meeting for just the third time in program history with the series tied 1-1. The last time the two teams met was March 22, 2003 and the Cougars won 8-3 at the New Mexico State tournament.
Scouting UTSA
The Roadrunners (15-14, 6-3 C-USA) enter the contest after going 1-2 at Marshall over the weekend.
The Thundering Herd won the first two games, 5-0 and 7-0, but the Roadrunners claimed the third game, 4-2.
Celeste Loughman leads with team with a batting average of .343, while Bailee Baldwin leads in home runs with six, including two grand slams. Madison Nelson leads in the circle with a 4.08 ERA.
Scouting BYU
The Cougars come into Thursday after a 2-0 (10-1, 6-5) doubleheader victory over Utah Valley in the UCCU Crosstown Clash on Tuesday.
BYU is currently 12-15 on the season 0-0 on West Coast Conference action. The Cougars start conference play on April 5 against LMU.
Rylee Jensen leads the team with a .400 batting average and Autumn Moffat has an ERA of 2.62, heading up the pitchers.
