Softball hosts Middle Tennessee this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team is set to host Middle Tennessee March 16-17 for a three-game conference series at Roadrunner Field.
 
Saturday's doubleheader start times are 1 and 3:30 p.m. with 30-45 minutes between games. The first pitch on Sunday is set for 1 p.m.
 
All-time series
The Roadrunners and the Blue Raiders are meeting for the seventh time in program history with UTSA leading the series 4-2. The last meeting between the two teams was March 25-26, 2016 when Middle Tennessee won the series 2-1 in the Alamo City.
 
Scouting UTSA
UTSA (12-11, 3-0 C-USA) opened conference action with a sweep over UAB March 9-10. The Roadrunners won the games, 7-0, 7-5 and 4-3.
 
Bailee Baldwin hit a grand slam and a home run to help the Roadrunners shutout the first game. Kindell Brooks and Victoria Villarreal also had homers on the weekend. Baldwin and Brooks each had five hits in the series, leading the team. Villarreal led the team with a batting average of .429.
 
Madison Nelson picked up her first two career saves, while Clarissa Hernandez went 2-0 on the weekend.
 
Scouting Middle Tennessee
Middle Tennessee enters the weekend 14-12 on the season and opens conference play in San Antonio.
 
The Blue Raiders picked up their 14th win of the season on Wednesday with a 4-3 victory over Belmont.
 
MT is led by Summer Burgess with a .364 batting average.
