Women's Tennis hosts Southern Miss, Laredo CC

SAN ANTONIO – Winners of three of its last five matches, the UTSA women's tennis team will host a day/night doubleheader on Thursday, welcoming Southern Miss at 10 a.m. before concluding the day with Laredo Community College at 5 p.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center. 
 
UTSA (8-8) has won two straight, including 6-1 results over Texas State and Missouri State. The Roadrunners have posted a 44-42 record in singles and a 20-18 record in doubles in 2019. 
 
The Roadrunners have been led by 9-5 records in singles play from juniors Laura Cabrera (Barcelona, Spain) and Kylee Kato (Kahului, Hawaii). Kato has teamed with freshman Jasmin Starr (Templestowe, Victoria, Australia) to own an 8-4 record in doubles, a team best. Star is 7-8 in the lead singles role in her debut season. 
 
Mariah Plauth (Florianoplis, Brazil) has posted a 7-6 record in singles, with Plauth teaming with Cabrera, Catalina Cabrique (Bogata, Colombia) and Charleen Tiwari (Perth, Australia) in doubles. Tiwari is 5-6 in singles and while teaming with freshman Sophie Omoworare (Plano, Texas), has posted a 7-3 record in doubles. Omoworare is 3-6 in singles, with junior Diya Menon (Plano, Texas) posting a 1-2 mark in singles.
