Jackson named USBWA All-District

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA sophomore guard Jhivvan Jackson has been tabbed All-District by the United States Basketball Writers Association in a voting of its national membership, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

A native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Jackson was one of 10 players across the states of Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana to be voted to the all-district team. On Monday, Jackson was tabbed first-team All-Conference USA in a voting of the league coaches, joining all-league honoree Keaton Wallace.

Jackson is the first UTSA player to earn the USBWA All-District accolade since LeRoy Hurd in 2003-04.

The nation's 15th highest scorer and the leader in C-USA, Jackson has averaged 22.4 points per game as a sophomore. He averages 4.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game, despite missing the first three games due to injury and playing the following six outings on a significant minute restriction. In C-USA action. Jackson sports 23.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

A 6-foot product of Euless-Trinity High School, Jackson owns the second most 3-pointers in single-season history, is shooting 83.7 percent from the free-throw line and has 22 games of at least 20 points, the second most in program annals just behind Derrick Gervin's mark of 24.

The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season, its founding year.

UTSA (17-14, 11-7 C-USA) opens the Conference USA Championships in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
