Softball set for Houston Baptist on Wednesday

HOUSTON – The UTSA softball team travels to Houston on March 6 to play a mid-week game against Houston Baptist at 3 p.m.
 
All-time series
The Roadrunners and the Huskies are meeting for the 27th time in program history with UTSA leading the series 20-6. The last meeting between the two teams was April 17, 2018 when the Roadrunners won at home, 8-7.
 
Scouting UTSA
UTSA enters the contest with a 9-10 overall record on the season.
 
The Roadrunners closed their tournament slate at the Judi Garman last week. UTSA played No. 7 Tennessee, No. 22 Auburn, CSUN and Fresno State. The game scheduled for Cal State Fullerton was canceled due to weather in the area.
 
UTSA swept the Cardinal Classic, 5-0, defeating, host Lamar, as well as Rhode Island and Maine twice. The Roadrunners also have victories over Texas State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Southeastern Louisiana and Missouri State.
 
Celeste Loughman leads the team with a batting average of .381, followed by freshman Riley Grunberg with a .298 batting average.
 
Scouting Houston Baptist
Houston Baptist comes into the competition with an 8-6 overall record.
 
The Huskies played in the Black and Gold Invitational, hosted by Southern Miss, the Natchitoches Historic District Development Commission Lady Demon Classic and the Samford Tournament this season.
 
HBU has wins over Jackson State, Texas Southern, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Samford and Evansville.
The team is led by Sierra Humphrey with a .429 batting average.
