SAN ANTONIO -- The UTSA women's tennis team will host a match with Northwestern State on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (4-4) have had a jam-packed start to the spring dual-match season and enter the test with Northwestern State after posting sweeps over UIW and Prairie View A&M on Sunday. UTSA - under the direction of first-year head coach Ki Kroll and assistant Kellie Ritchie - posted 4-0 wins over the UIW and Prairie View A&M. The Roadrunners opened the year with six consecutive matches away from the UTSA Tennis Center, including wins in neutral-site venues vs. Abilene Christian and Cameron.
Junior Kylee Kato (Kahului, Hawai) has led UTSA with a 4-2 mark in singles in 2019, with Kato and freshman standout Jasmin Starr (Templestowe Victoria, Australia) have posted a team-best 5-2 mark in doubles. Junior Laura Cabrera (Barcelona, Spain) has gone 3-3 in singles and has teamed with graduate transfer Mariah Plauth (Florianopolis, Brazil) in doubles in the second flight. Plauth is 2-3 in singles in the second spot.
Junior Diya Menon (Plano, Texas) is 1-1 in singles and along with freshman Sophie Omoworare (Plano, Texas) is 2-0 in doubles as the No. 3 pairing. Senior Charleen Tiwari (Perth, Australia) has posted a 2-4 mark in singles and has teamed with Omoworare to go 3-1 in doubles. Omoworare is a combined 5-1 in her two double pairings combined in 2019.
Overall, the Roadrunners are 18-20 in singles and 11-6 in doubles.
