HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The UTSA women's basketball team is traveling to Hattiesburg March 2 to take on Southern Miss at 4 p.m. for the final road game of the season.
All-time series
The Roadrunners and the Lady Eagles are meeting for the ninth time in program history and second time this season with USM leading the series 8-1. The last meeting between the two teams was Feb. 14, 2019 when the Lady Eagles came to the Alamo City and won 70-45.
Scouting UTSA
UTSA enters the weekend with a 7-19 overall record and 2-12 in C-USA action. The Roadrunners are fighting to make the conference tournament March 13-16 in Frisco. They are currently tied with Florida Atlantic and FIU.
Marie Benson leads the team averaging 15.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. The junior has seven 20-point games and 14 double-doubles this season. Tija Hawkins follows with 12.9 points and 5.7 rebounds.
Scouting Southern Miss
Southern Miss comes into Saturday with an overall record of 16-11 and an 8-6 conference record.
The Lady Eagles are led by Shonte Hailes, averaging 12.4 points and 3.7 rebounds and Megan Brown with 10.0 points and 4.6 rebounds.
Southern Miss is currently tied for sixth with Old Dominion.
