Women’s Tennis takes on Islanders in Corpus

SAN ANTONIO– In the midst of a five-match road swing, UTSA women's tennis will return to action at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday at 12 p.m., partaking in a match that features both the Roadrunners men's and women's teams facing their Islanders counterparts in the same location. 

 
UTSA (6-7) will face the Islanders (6-2) at 12 p.m. before the men square off at 3 p.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. 
 
The Roadrunners have won three of their last six matches, with their match in the City by the Bay their fourth of a five-match road swing. 
 
UTSA has posted a 32-36 mark in singles and a 16-14 record in doubles through the first 13 matches of 2019. 
 
The Roadrunners have been led by 7-4 marks in singles from juniors Laura Cabrera (Barcelona, Spain) and Kylee Kato (Kahului, Hawaii). Cabrera has teamed with Mariah Plauth (Florianopolis, Brazil) to go 1-5 in doubles. Plauth, a graduate transfer from the University of Mobile, is 5-5 in singles. 
 
Freshman Jasmin Starr (Templestowe, Victoria, Australia) has been in the lead singles role and posted a 5-7 record, while earning a 7-3 record in doubles along with Kato. 
 
Junior Diya Menon (Plano, Texas) is 1-1 in singles and has teamed with freshman Sophie Omoworare (Plano, Texas) to earn a 2-0 record in doubles. Omoworare has gone 3-5 in singles. Senior Charleen Tiwari (Perth, Australia) owns a 3-6 record in singles and has formed a duo with Omoworare to go 6-2 in doubles. 
 
Freshman Catalina Cabrique (Bogata, Colombia) owns a 1-4 mark in singles and a 0-3 combined mark in doubles.
