UTSA to travel to The Woodlands for ICON Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — Fresh off their third tournament win in the last year, the UTSA women's golf team will travel to The Woodlands for the ICON Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 25-26, at The Woodlands Country Club's Tournament Course (par 72/6,392 yards).

The Roadrunners will face a field that includes seven top-50 teams in No. 9 Kent State, No. 18 Clemson, No. 20 TCU, No. 27 Purdue, No. 33 Houston, No. 35 Baylor and No. 46 Texas Tech, along with Kansas State, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, SMU, Southern Miss, Texas A&M and Texas State.

The teams will play 36 holes Monday followed by the final round on Tuesday, and play will get started both days with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring can be found at http://golfstat.com.

UTSA is coming off their third tournament title since last April, as the Roadrunners ran away with the Texas State Invitational crown on Feb. 11-12 in Kyle, Texas. Led by runner-up Julie Houston (208) and Madison Kidd (212) and Ana Gonzalez (215), who finished fourth and seventh, respectively, UTSA carded a school-record 854 to win by 20 strokes ahead of Kansas State.

The Roadrunners placed eighth at last year's ICON Invitational (formerly called The Dickson), which was shortened to 18 holes due to unplayable conditions. Becky McGeehan tied for 14th with a 72 to guide the Birds.
