Women’s tennis kicks off three-match road swing

SAN ANTONIO – Coming off a win over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, the UTSA women's tennis team will hit the road for a three-match road swing, facing UTEP and Utah State in El Paso on Friday and Saturday, before traveling to face New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M., on Sunday. 
 
UTSA (5-5) will open its road trip with UTEP on Friday at 11 a.m. in El Paso. The Roadrunners then face Utah State at 12 p.m. on Saturday, before hitting the road to face New Mexico State in Las Cruces on Sunday at 10 a.m. 
 
The Roadrunners have won three of their last four matches, including wins over UIW, Prairie View A&M and SFA. UTSA sports a 23-27 mark in singles play and a 14-9 record in doubles. 
 
Junior Kylee Kato (Kahului, Hawaii) sports a 5-3 record in singles play and has teamed with freshman Jasmin Starr (Templestowe, Victoria, Australia) to post a 6-3 record in the lead doubles role. Starr is 4-5 in the No. 1 spot in singles play. 
 
Junior Laura Cabrera (Barcelona, Spain) is 4-4 in singles and has teamed with Mariah Plauth (Florianopolis, Brazil) to go 1-5 in doubles. Plauth is 3-4 in singles play in the No. 2 and No. 3 role. 
 
Freshman Sophie Omoworare (Plano, Texas) and Charleen Tiwari (Perth, Australia) have posted a 5-1 record in doubles, with Omoworare and Diay Menon (Plano, Texas) going 2-0 together. Omororare is 3-4 in singles and has won three straight matches. Tiwari sports a 2-5 mark in singles and Menon owns a 1-1 mark. 
 
Catalina Cabrique (Bogata, Colombia) is 1-1 in singles.
