HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Junior Kylee Kato (Kahului, Hawaii) earned a singles win and helped spur a pair of doubles points but Sam Houston State posted a 5-2 win over UTSA women's tennis on Friday afternoon at the McAdams Tennis Center.
UTSA (2-4) fell to SHSU (3-2) depsite a singles point from Kato, who won, 7-5, 6-4. The Roadrunners also got a doubles point in the leadoff spot from Kato and Jasmin Star (Templestowe, Victoria, Australia), who won, 6-1. Senior Charleen Tiwari (Perth, Australia) and freshman Sophie Omoworare (Plano, Texas) teamed for a 6-1 win in their doubles match.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Sunday, hosting UIW at 10 a.m. CT at the UTSA Tennis Center.
