HUMBLE, Texas — The final round of the All-American Intercollegiate has been canceled due to heavy rain in the Houston area Tuesday.
The Roadrunners finished in seventh place in the team standings at 11-over-par 587, four shots ahead of Rice and just four behind Ole Miss.
Individually, Michael Rome and Adam House finished in an eight-way tie for 12 place at 1-over 145.
Rome carded rounds of 73 and 72 on the 7,067-yard, par-72 Golf Club of Houston layout. The sophomore from Austin led the entire field by playing the par 4s at 4-under par and he recorded seven birdies for the event, including three straight during his even-par second round.
House posted a 72 on Sunday and followed with a 73 in the second round. The Rockwall native was steady with a team-high 27 pars during the 36 holes played and he also wrote down four birdies, including three on the back nine during Monday's round.
That UTSA duo finished just two shots out of the top 10 and seven back of individual medalist Cecil Wegener of Ole Miss, who carded a 6-under 138.
Christian Fanfelle posted the Roadrunners' low round of the event with a 2-under 70 on Sunday. The freshman from San Antonio turned in a 77 on Monday and tied for 22nd at 3-over 147.
Sean Meehan tied for 43rd at 6-over 150 after recording rounds of 72 and 78, while Chad Sewell rounded out the UTSA lineup in a tie for 70th (74-81—155). Will Adams tied for 77th (76-83—159) while competing as an individual.
Sam Houston State won the team title with a 3-under 573, followed by No. 37 Baylor (578), Houston (578), 34th-ranked South Carolina (582) and Charlotte (582) in the top five of the 14-team field.
The Roadrunners will return to the course on Feb. 25-26 when they travel to Lafayette, La., for the Louisiana Classics.
