SAN ANTONIO -- The UTSA women's tennis team wrapped up a pair of weekend tests with splits at the UTSA Tennis Center, falling on Friday to McNeese State, 6-1, before posting a 5-2 win over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday afternoon.
UTSA (5-5) opened the week with a setback vs. McNeese (5-4), earning a lone singles win behind junior Kylee Kato, 6-1, 6-1. The Roadrunners bounced back on Saturday to earn the win over SFA (2-2).
"Very proud of our players today," UTSA first-year coach Ki Kroll said. "We fought hard today and were able to come away with a win. It's a good next step in our development and we are looking forward to using it as a springboard towards continued progress."
Laura Cabrera, Mariah Plauth, Catalina Cabrique and Sophie Omoworae each earned singles wins vs. SFA, with freshman Jasmin Starr forming a pair with Kato, and Charleen Tiwari and Omowoare teaming for doubles wins.
UTSA will return to action on Friday, traveling to face UTEP in El Paso at 12 p.m.
