Roadrunners fall to Bears

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team fell to No. 16 Baylor, 4-1 Wednesday evening at Roadrunner Field.
 
The Roadrunners fall to 1-4 on the season as the Bears increase their record to 4-2.
 
Kassidy Krupit put Baylor on the board with a home run in the top of the second. Freshman Kaitlin Lopez tied the game with her second home run of the season in the bottom of the frame.
 
 The Bears took the lead (2-1) with a single up the middle from Lou Gilbert as Nicky Dawson scored.
 
Both teams posted a 1-2-3 inning in the fourth.
 
Hannah Thompson singled to right center as Baylor led 3-1. After a single and stolen base, Baylor scored again increasing the lead, 4-1.
 
Clarissa Hernandez pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning to end the game.
 
The Bears posted six hits with four runs, while the Roadrunners had five hits and one run.
 
UTSA returns to action on Friday at the Lion Classic hosted by Southeastern Louisiana. The Roadrunners will face SIUE at 11 a.m. Friday morning.
