SAN MARCOS – The UTSA softball team fell to Colorado State, 4-0 on Sunday afternoon to close out the first tournament of the season.
CSU got on the board early taking advantage of a throwing error with a runner on second. Amber Nelson hit a double down the left field line, allowing Danni Klein to score for the Rams.
Paige Pacher hit a double in the third, but two popups followed leaving two runners on base for the Roadrunners.
Ashley Ruiz hit a single in the top of the fourth, allowing another run for CSU. Ashley Michelena followed with a double as Ruiz scored, taking the lead 3-0.
Haley Donaldson hit a home run in the fifth, pushing the lead to 4-0.
Victoria Villarreal hit a single in the bottom of the sixth with two outs, but Riley Grunberg struck out ending the inning.
The Roadrunners ended the game with three hits as Marena Estell was charged with the loss allowing six hits and three runs.
UTSA returns to action on Feb. 13 when it hosts Baylor for the home opener. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
