Roadrunners hit the road for games at Rice and North Texas

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball teams opens conference road games this week with games at Rice on Jan. 10 and North Texas on Jan. 12.
 
All-time series against Rice
UTSA and Rice are meeting for the 19thtime in program history with UTSA leading the series 10-8. The last meeting between the two teams was Feb. 25, 2018 when the Roadrunners won 62-58 at home. The Roadrunners and the Owls are 3-5 in C-USA action.
 
This is the first of two games for these to two this season with the second on March 7 when Rice travels to Alamo City for the final game of the regular-season.
 
All-time series against North Texas
The Roadrunners and the Mean Green are meeting for the 27thtime with North Texas leading the series 16-10. The last time these two teams met was Feb. 2, 2018 when UTSA won 70-58 at the Convocation Center. UTSA leads 4-2 in C-USA play.
 
Scouting UTSA
UTSA (5-8, 0-1) enters the contest after a 73-60 loss to UTEP in the conference opener on Jan. 5. 
 
Karrington Donald led the team with a career-high 24 points, while Marie Benson posted her seventh double-double this season with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
 
The Roadrunners are currently 1-5 in conference openers since joining Conference USA.
 
Scouting Rice
Rice (11-3, 2-0) comes into Thursday with a 2-0 start on C-USA play with victories over Southern Miss (58-47) and Louisiana Tech (61-51).
 
Against Louisiana Tech, three players hit double-figures, led by Erica Ogwumike who posted 17 points, followed by Nicole Iademarco (16 points) and Nancy Mulkey (12 points).
 
The Owls shot 53.3 percent from the field, while holding the Lady Techsters to 35 percent shooting. 
 
Scouting North Texas
North Texas (9-5, 2-0) enters the weekend with victories over Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech as well.
 
Against Southern Miss, the Mean Green shot 38.2 percent from the field with Anisha George leading the team with a career-high 25 points.
 
This was the first time North Texas defeated the Lady Eagles in Hattiesburg.
