Roadrunners ready for FasTrak Invitational on Saturday in Houston

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's and women's track & field teams will travel to Houston to compete in the FasTrak Invitational on Saturday at Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse on the University of Houston campus.
 
The Roadrunners will line up against athletes from Abilene Christian, McMurry, North Texas, Rice, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, TCU, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UIW, UTRGV and UT Tyler in the non-scored meet. Saturday's action will get underway at 10 a.m. with the high jump, long jump and shot put. Track events are scheduled to begin with the mile run at noon. This weekend's meet will mark the second of the indoor season for UTSA, which opened the campaign at the Ted Nelson Invitational last Saturday in College Station. 
 
On the men's side, Luca Chatham won the mile with a personal-best time of 4:10.82 and Andre Douglas leaped to a 50-8 measurement to grab gold in the triple jump to help lead the Roadrunners to fourth place in the team standings. 
 
Vasha Sheriff clocked a 47.41 for second place in the 400 meters and that time currently ranks second in Conference USA and fifth nationally. 
 
Chatham also led off for the distance medley relay team that earned runner-up honors with a 10:12.61, a time that stands 11th in the country.
 
The women were led by a bronze-medal performance from the DMR squad of Colleen Gilbert, Creshaun Cresser, Stephanie Sauceda and Amber Boyd, as that quartet passed the baton in 12:33.56, a time that leads C-USA and ranks 29th nationally.
 
Jamiah Jackson clocked an 8.64 to take fourth place in the 60m hurdles and the sophomore currently ranks fourth in C-USA in the event. 
 
Meanwhile, Olivia Esemena crossed fourth in the 60m with a 7.59 and Sierra Andres placed fourth in the 400m with a 57.61, times that each stand sixth in the conference.
