SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team hosts Middle Tennessee on Jan. 17 (7 p.m.) and UAB on Jan. 19 (1 p.m.) at the Convocation Center.
All-time series against Middle Tennessee
The Roadrunners and the Blue Raiders are meeting for just the sixth time in program history with Middle Tennessee leading the series 5-0. The last meeting between the two teams was Jan. 11, 2018 when MT won 62-47 at the Convocation Center.
All-time series against UAB
UTSA and UAB are meeting for the sixth time as well. The Blazers lead the series 3-2 with the last meeting on March 3, 2018 when UAB won 74-66.
Scouting UTSA
The Roadrunners return home after a 57-54 victory at North Texas on Jan. 12 after falling to Rice, 85-54 on Jan. 10.
UTSA is now 6-9 overall and 1-2 in C-USA action.
Against the Mean Green, the Roadrunners shot 46.2 percent from the field as Marie Benson posted her ninth double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior Kourtney Kekec scored a career-high 10 points, while Tija Hawkins also scored in the double digits with 10.
The Roadrunners gained a lead in the first quarter and continued to build on it until the fourth quarter when North Texas bridged the gap and tied the game in the last few minutes. UTSA scored again to regain the lead and victory.
Scouting Middle Tennessee
Middle Tennessee (13-4, 4-0) enters the contest after a 75-38 victory over Louisiana Tech last Saturday.
A'Queen Hayes led the team with 18 points and 13 rebounds, followed by Taylor Sutton's 16 points.
The Blue Raiders are currently ranked second in the conference behind Rice.
Scouting UAB
UAB (15-2, 3-1) comes into the weekend after a 71-60 win over Southern Miss.
Miyah Barnes led the team with a season-high 23 points. Katelynn Thomas followed with 19 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The Blazers shot 43.8 percent from the field and posted 33 rebounds.
UAB will play UTEP on Thursday before coming to the Alamo City.
