SAN ANTONIO -- UTSA sophomore guard Jhivvan Jackson has been named Conference USA Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
A native of Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Jackson led UTSA in scoring during a week that included wins over Rice and previous-league unbeaten North Texas. It extended the winning streak for the Roadrunners to seven and put UTSA at 4-0 in conference play for the first time in 30 years.
Jackson had a game-best 24 points, with five rebounds, three assists and two steals in 34 minutes on Thursday in a win over Rice. While matching up with a 4-0 UNT squad with first place on the line in C-USA, Jackson sank the game-winning, contested jumper with 1.6 seconds remaining to lift UTSA to a 76-74 win.

Jackson finished the win over UNT with a team-leading 17 points, with three assists, two rebounds and two steals. He started the game 0 for 7 before finishing with buckets in six of his final 11 shots.
Jackson ranks second in C-USA in points per game (20.5) and three-pointers made per game (3.1). He missed the first three games, and played the following five on a minute restriction, due to a season-ending injury during his 2017-18 C-USA Freshman of the Year campaign. After returning to the rotation, Jackson has been a force, averaging 22.6 points as a starter with 4.9 rebounds per game in 32 minutes.
In league play, Jackson is averaging 19.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Over the course of UTSA's seven-game winning streak – its best in 10 years – Jackson is averaging 22.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. In his two-year career, Jackson is averaging 19.1 points and 3.4 rebounds.
This marks the second C-USA Player of the Week honor for Jackson in 2018-19. He was named player of the week after splashing a career-best 32 points and grabbing 10 boards in a win over Southeastern Oklahoma State. It marks the ninth C-USA weekly accolade in two years for Jackson, who was named freshman of the week seven times during 2017-18.
UTSA (10-7, 4-0 C-USA) returns to action with a two-game road swing in league action, traveling to face Middle Tennessee on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. before facing UAB in Birmingham on Saturday at 7 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+ and broadcast live on Ticket 760 and goUTSA.com, with Andy Everett calling the action.
