UTSA unveils 2019 schedule

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox unveiled Thursday the 2019 schedule for the men's and women's programs, highlighted by the Roadrunners' two annual home meets in March.
 
"When we discuss strategy in putting together our schedule each year, we always keep our primary goals in mind," Fox said. "Those goals are to compete for conference championships and advance as many athletes as possible to nationals. This schedule features numerous meets that will have great competition, which will help prepare us for the Conference USA and NCAA Championships."
 
UTSA will open the indoor campaign on Jan. 11-12 at the Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station, Texas, the first of four visits to Texas A&M.
 
The Roadrunners will stay in the state for trips to the Red Raider Invite on Jan. 18 in Lubbock, the Houston Invitational on Jan. 25-26, the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Feb. 1-2 in College Station and the Howie Ryan Invitational on Feb. 8 in Houston.
 
The Conference USA Indoor Championships will be contested on Feb. 16-17 at Birmingham (Ala.) CrossPlex. The NCAA Indoor Championships are slated for March 8-9 at the same facility.
 
UTSA will start the outdoor season at home with a pair of meets at Park West Athletics Complex. The UTSA Invitational will be held on March 15-16 and the Roadrunner Invitational is slated for March 21-23.
 
The Roadrunners then will compete in the prestigious Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 27-30 in Austin before making a trip to Nacogdoches, Texas, for the Carl Knight Invitational on April 5-6.
 
The outdoor ledger will continue on April 12-13 with the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station.
 
UTSA will send athletes to both the Mt. SAC Relays on April 18-20 in Torrance, Calif., and J. Fred Duckett Twilight Invitational on April 20 in Houston.
 
The Roadrunners then are scheduled to compete in the Alumni Muster on April 27 in College Station and the Tom Tellez Invitational on May 3 in Houston.
 
The C-USA Outdoor Championships will be held on May 9-12 at Belk Track and Field Center in Charlotte.
 
The NCAA postseason will begin with the NCAA West Preliminary Round on May 23-25 at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif., and the NCAA Outdoor Championships are set for June 5-8 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
