SAN ANTONIO – After a hard fought battle, the UTSA women's basketball team fell to Utah State 62-56 Wednesday evening at the Convocation Center.
UTSA (3-6) shot 31.8 percent from the field and posted a season-high seven blocks against Utah State (3-5).
Senior Kourtney Kekec led with four points in the first quarter as the Roadrunners trailed 17-10.
The Roadrunners kept the Aggies from scoring for 4:51 and only allowed eight points in the second quarter. UTSA outscored Utah State 13-8 as it trailed by two (25-23) at the half.
Marie Benson hit her fourth double-double with 14 points and a career-high 18 rebounds this season as UTSA scored 15 points in the third. The Roadrunners trailed 47-38 going to the fourth.
Deja Cousin hit two 3-pointers in the last 30 seconds of the game to hit a career-high 10 points as UTSA scored 18 points to bridge the gap to six.
The Roadrunners return to the court on Dec. 15 when they host San Diego at 2 p.m.
