SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team hosts San Diego on Saturday at the Convocation Center. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
All-time series
The Roadrunners and the Toreros are meeting for the third time in program history, with San Diego leading the series 2-0. The last time the two teams met was Dec. 16, 2017 when UTSA traveled to California. USD won the game, 78-69.
Scouting UTSA
UTSA (3-6) enters the game off a nine-day break following a 62-56 loss to Utah State on Dec. 5.
Marie Benson led the Roadrunners with her fourth double-double of 14 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. Deja Cousin followed behind with a career-high 10 points. The junior scored two 3-pointers in the final 30 seconds to bridge the gap.
The Roadrunners shot 31.8 percent from the field and made 11 of 20 free throws.
Scouting San Diego
San Diego (6-3) comes into Saturday off four-consecutive wins after a 76-58 victory over CSUSB on Monday.
Patricia Brossman recorded her second-consecutive double-doulbe (19 points and 10 rebounds) as the Toreros shot 41 percent from the field.
Myah Pace, Leticia Soares and Sydney Hunter also scored in double digits with 13, 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Saturday's game is Winter Wonderland themed. There will be an ugly sweater contest, gingerbread house making, a teddy bear toss and more. The first 500 fans will receive a UTSA holiday stocking.
