COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – The UTSA men's and women's cross country programs closed the 2018 season on Friday at the NCAA South Central Regional.

Senior Luca Chatham closed his collegiate cross country career with a 10,000-meter personal record to guide the UTSA men. The Dallas native bested his previous best by 29 seconds as he finished in 33:31.0 to place 52nd in the field of 168. Jake Smith, a freshman, established his 10k collegiate PR with a 34:40.1 to take 97th. Sophomore Josh Rodriguez ran a 35:00.6 to place 108th and junior Peter Sepulveda a 35:27.4 to come across the line 123rd.
Jamie Crowe of Lamar claimed the men's 10K title with a 31:36.3.

All four UTSA women competitors finished the 6,000-meter race with season best times.
Freshman Brian Gonzalez led the way with a personal-record time of 23:41.6 to place 111th among the 154-competitor field. Junior Colleen Gilbert clocked a 23:53.8 to place 114th overall. Sophomore Amber Boyd, who was making her 6K season debut, crossed the line in 24:39.8 to place 134th. Boyd was closely followed by senior Charlette Janicek in 137th with a time of 24:46.8, which was 13 seconds better than her previous season best.
Arkansas' Katrina Robinson won the women's 6k race with a time of 20:20.3.
