SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team travels to Austin on Wednesday to play No. 10/9 Texas at 11 a.m. at the Frank C. Erwin Center.
All-time series
The Roadrunners and the Longhorns are meeting for the ninth time in program history. Texas currently leads the series 8-0, with the last meeting on Nov. 17, 2017 when the Longhorns won 120-70.
Scouting UTSA
The Roadrunners enter the contest after hosting the UTSA Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 23 and 25. UTSA went 1-1 on the weekend after a loss to IUPUI and a victory over Weber State.
Freshman Ryann Stearns put up 34 points with a career-best 18 points against IUPUI. The Andover, Kan., native shot .667 percent from the arch and .611 percent from the field.
Marie Benson garnered her third double-double against IUPUI with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The junior now ranks in the top 20 in rebounds at UTSA.
Overall, the Roadrunners shot .333 percent from the field against IUPUI and .407 percent against Weber State.
Scouting Texas
The Longhorns come into Wednesday with a 6-0 record with victories over Duquesne (78-41), North Texas (64-54), McNeese State (96-40), Quinnipiac (56-55), Michigan (69-53) and Fordham (72-54).
Texas is led by Lashann Higgs who averages 13.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Jatarie White follows behind averaging 12.5 points and 6.3 rebounds.
In their last game against Fordham, the Longhorns shot 45.5 percent from the field and posted 39 rebounds.
