ESTERO, Fla. -- Sophomore guard Jhivvan Jackson collected 21 points in just 15 minutes off the bench, to help spur UTSA men's basketball to a 76-65 win over FGCU in the finale of the Gulf Coast Showcase, on Wednesday morning at the Hertz Center.
UTSA (1-5) earned its first win of the season with a furious second-half run past FGCU (2-5). Trailing by two at halftime, UTSA outscored the Eagles 42-29 in the second half, shooting a blistering 55 percent from the field in the period and 45 percent overall.
A native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Jackson returned from injury for his season debut during the week tour at the Gulf Coast Showcase. Limited to 15 minutes in each game, Jackson totaled 41 points over his combined 45 minutes, connecting on 12-of-33 from the field and 9-of-28 from behind the arc. The Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2017-18, Jackson finished Wednesday with 21 points and two assists.

Keaton Wallace, a native of Dallas, had 19 points on seven baskets, including four triples, adding four rebounds and three assists. Byron Frohnen grabbed seven boards, adding four points and three assists. Atem Bior added four points and seven rebounds.
The Roadrunners held a 41-31 advantage in rebounding, a 14-9 mark in second-chance points and a 32-13 lead in points off the bench.

UTSA returns to action on Nov. 26, traveling to face Houston Baptist at 7 p.m. CT, with a broadcast live on the Husky Sports Network. The game will also air on Ticket 760-AM in San Antonio with Andy Everett voicing the action.
