SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team improved to 2-2 on the season with a 61-58 victory over UTRGV.
The Roadrunners (2-2) shot 46.9 percent from the field, while the Vaqueros (1-2) shot 41.7 percent.
In the first quarter, the Roadrunners shot 60 percent from the field with Ryann Stearns leading with eight points. UTSA led 29-25 going into the half with Stearns and Karrington Donald each with eight points.
Marie Benson scored nine points in the third with two rebounds as the Roadrunners and the Vaqueros were tied at 43 going to the fourth.
UTSA outscored UTRGV in the fourth, 18-16, to ultimately take the victory. The Roadrunners shot 66.7 percent from beyond the arc and totaled 18 rebounds.
Marie Benson (19), Karrington Donald (13) and Ryann Stearns (10) all hit double figures in scoring.
UTSA returns to the court Nov. 20 when it hosts Texas State at the Convocation Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
