UTSA inks pair of national top-100 golfers to National Letters of Intent

SAN ANTONIO —UTSA head men's golf coach John Knauer announced Wednesday that Hunter Bott (Montgomery, Texas/Montgomery HS) and David Harrison (Trophy Club, Texas/Byron Nelson HS) have signed National Letters of Intent. The pair of national top 100-ranked players will join the Roadrunners beginning with the 2019-20 season.

"We are so excited to welcome Hunter and David to our Roadrunner family," Knauer said. "Adding two more highly ranked student-athletes to our stable of players creates a roster that will be talented from top to bottom. This depth will serve us well for years to come."

Hunter Bott (Montgomery, Texas/Montgomery HS)

Ranked No. 8 in the state of Texas and No. 46 in the nation for the class of 2019 by Golfweek… ranked 10th in Texas and 68th nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard … three-time all-district performer for head coach Kirk Thomason at Montgomery High School … two-time all-region honoree … has helped the Bears win five tournament titles during his prep career … won the 2018 AJGA Insperity Invitational/Patrick Reed Junior Championship at The Woodlands Country Club in a playoff after carding a 213 (69-72-72) … runner-up with a 74-72—146 at the 2017 Thanksgiving Showdown at TPC San Antonio's AT&T Canyons Course … was 13th at the AJGA Hunter Mahan Junior Championship in Frisco, Texas … tied for 15th place at the 2017 Southern Texas Section Junior PGA Championship … won the Junior Tour's April Sound Country Club and Panther Trail tournaments in 2016.

Fifteenth-ranked player in the state of Texas and 62nd in the nation for the class of 2019 by Golfweek… ranked No. 22 in Texas and No. 184 nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard … all-region and two-time all-district performer for head coach Barry Hawkins at Byron Nelson High School … state qualifier who was the district runner-up and fourth-place finisher at the Region 1-6A tournament as a junior … registered a 73.85 stroke average in 2017-18 … three-time academic all-district selection … carded a 5-over-par 290 (70-75-70-75) to win the 2018 Fort Worth Junior Golf Boys Championship at The Colonial … captured the SHSU PGA Golf Management War at the Shore individual crown in April 2017 … fired a 72-71—143 to win the 2017 Thanksgiving Showdown at TPC San Antonio's AT&T Canyons Course … 2017 Nike Junior Golf Camps Granbury Classic individual medalist.
