SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team is set to play in the Seton Hall Tip-off Nov. 10-11 in South Orange, N.J.
The Roadrunners will play UMBC on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Seton Hall on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Walsh Gymnasium.
Scouting UTSA
The Roadrunners enter the weekend after a 78-51 victory over Concordia Texas on Tuesday in the season-opener.
Junior Marie Benson led UTSA with 29 points and 15 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Tija Hawkins scored 14 points with four rebounds.
UTSA shot 40.9 percent from the field and held the Tornados to seven points in the second quarter.
All-time series
Against UMBC: Saturday is the first time UTSA will take on UMBC.
Against Seton Hall: This is just the second time in program history the two teams are competing against each other. The last time the Roadrunners faced the Pirates was Nov. 27, 2004, when Seton Hall won 60-59 at the Convocation Center.
Scouting UMBC
UMBC comes into the weekend with a 2-0 record this season. The Retrievers defeated Gettysburg, 65-51 on Tuesday and Eastern, 81-42 on Thursday.
Against the Eagles, UMBC shot 47.6 percent from the field, led by Janee'a Summers who scored 10 points with six rebounds.
Scouting Seton Hall
Seton Hall enters the contest with a 1-0 record after a 95-40 win over Wagner on Tuesday. Victoria Cardaci led the Pirates with 21 points, followed by Shadeen Samuels who posted 18 points and eight rebounds.
