Soccer defeats Marshall 2-0 in first conference win

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA soccer team recorded its first conference win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Marshall Sunday afternoon at Park West Athletics Complex. 

The Roadrunners (5-6-1, 1-3-1 C-USA) held Marshall (5-6-2, 3-3-0 C-USA) to just one shot in the game.
 


Ellis Patterson scored her sixth goal of the season in the 22nd minute of the game. Off a double assist from Camryn Hoover and Marianne Hernandez, Patterson beat the keeper to the ball and found the net in the far-right corner.
 
In the 65th minute of the game, Rebekah Kensing shot from the center of the box and hit the crossbar before the ball rebounded into the net for her first goal of the season.
 
The defense held Marshall to just one shot throughout the game.
 
UTSA returns to the field on Thursday at Southern Miss. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
