SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's and women's cross country teams continue their seasons on Saturday, Oct 6 at the Incarnate Word Invitational.
The event
The 13th annual Incarnate Word Invitational will be contested in Live Oak, Texas, at the Live Oak City Park with the men competing in an 8,000-meter race at 8 a.m., followed by the women running a 6,000-meter distance at 8:30 a.m.
The competition
UTSA joins 10 other universities in the competition, including fellow Alamo City universities Incarnate Word, Our Lady of the Lake and Trinity. Other competing institutions include Abilene Christian, McMurry, Schreiner, Southwestern, St. Thomas [Texas], Sul Ross State, Texas Lutheran, the Autonomous University of Nuevo León [Mexico].
Representing the Roadrunners
Six men and six women will represent UTSA at the meet. The Roadrunner men's lineup features one senior and one junior along with two sophomore and two freshmen. Junior Mason Riley along with sophomores Omar Bekdache and Christian Castellanos and freshman Mason Lischka are making their second starts of the season, while senior Hunter Hawkins and freshman Christopher Wise are stepping to the start line for the first time this season. All six will be making their 8k season debuts.
UTSA's women's lineup features juniors Sarah Estrada, Rian Rodriguez and Stephanie Sauceda along with freshmen Abigail Behring, Brooke Lomax and Chloe Munoz. Lomax and Sauceda are making their first starts of the season. Behring, Estrada, Munoz and Rodriguez each competed at the season-opening Aggie Opener back on Aug. 31.
