Gonzalez, Nolte lead UTSA to sixth-place tie at Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS — Ana Gonzalez and Brooke Nolte each finished in a tie for 21st place to lead the UTSA women's golf team to a sixth-place tie at the Trinity Forest Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 72/6,233 yards).

Gonzalez and Nolte were part of a three-way tie for 21st at 9-over-par 225 to help the Roadrunners to a tie with Kansas for sixth at 901, one shot ahead of North Texas and just two strokes behind fifth-place and host SMU (899).

Gonzalez carded a 78 on the final day after turning in a 72-75—147 on Monday. The sophomore from Monterrey, Mexico, finished the 54-hole event with five birdies, including a two on the par-3 eighth on Tuesday.

Nolte also posted a 78 in the final round on the strength of three birdies, all on the front nine. The junior from Melissa, Texas, registered a 73-74—147 on the opening day and ended the Roadrunners' final fall tournament with seven birdies.

Hannah Holzmann was one shot behind her teammates after recording a 226 to tie for 24th. The freshman from San Antonio had an eagle-two on the 431-yard ninth hole as part of a 79 on Tuesday, one day after posting a 76-71—147, and she matched Nolte with a team-best seven birdies.

Julie Houston was one stroke behind Holzmann, as the senior tied for 29th with a 227 (73-76-78). The reigning Conference USA medalist fired a final-round 78 behind a pair of birdies.

Meanwhile, Madison Kidd turned in UTSA's low round of the final day with a 77. The junior from Lake Jackson, Texas, tied for 53rd with a 235 (81-77-77).

No. 18 Illinois claimed the team title with an 872, followed by No. 40 Tennessee (881), 25th-ranked Oregon State (890) and No. 43 Colorado (896).

Ellie Slama of Oregon State captured the individual crown with a 2-under 214 (75-68-71).

The Roadrunners will return to the course on Feb. 11-12 when they travel to Kyle, Texas, for the Texas State Invitational.
