SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will hold a food drive sponsored by Whataburger prior to the Roadrunners' home football game against Texas State, which will kick off at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Alamodome.
Fans are encouraged to bring canned goods or non-perishable food items to donation bins that will be located on the north side of the Alamodome. Monetary donations also are encouraged and accepted. Every dollar donated provides the equivalent of seven meals. All donations will be given to the San Antonio Food Bank.
Anyone who donates a minimum of two canned goods or non-perishable items will receive one coupon for a free Whataburger (while supplies last).
According to the San Antonio Food Bank, nearly one out of every four children and one out of every five adults in Southwest Texas is food insecure and has difficulty meeting basic nutritional needs. Sixty-five percent of the people requesting emergency food have children. UTSA and Whataburger are proud to help fight hunger and encourage fans to donate the gift of food for those in need.

ABOUT WHATABURGER:
Whataburger has focused on its fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service since 1950 when Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger as a small roadside burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dobson gave his restaurant a name he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: "What a burger!" Within the first week, people lined up around the block for his 25 cent, 100 percent beef burgers served on five-inch buns. Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio with more than 800 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $2 billion annually. Visit www.whataburger.com for more information.
