MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In the first conference match of the season, UTSA and Middle Tennessee end in a draw, 2-2 in a game that was a battle for the ball.

The Roadrunners (4-3-1) ended the Blue Raiders' (5-2-1) home shutout streak to start the 2018 C-USA season.

In the first half of the game, neither team had a ton of action. The Roadrunners, with six shots from Melissa Finley, Katie Becker, Katieann Lochte and Marianne Hernandez, fought hard to keep possession of the ball during the first 45 minutes of the game. The Blue Raiders had a total of five shots.

Maddison Falter scored the first goal of the game when she took a shot that went right over Michelle Cole's fingers in the 53rd minute.

In the 66th minute of the game, MTSU had a handball in the box, resulting in a penalty kick for UTSA. Marianne Hernandez took the shot and scored placing the ball in the bottom left side of the goal, slipping just past the keeper.

Hannah Tillett scored the second goal for the Blue Raiders off an assist that was just high enough for Cole to miss.

Ellis Patterson scored her fifth goal of the season in the 77th minute after battling the keeper and knocking the ball in the net to tie up the game.

UTSA had two shots in the first overtime from Hernandez and Lexi Bolton, who just missed outside the post off a cross from Ellis Patterson.

In the second overtime, Bolton had the only shot that went wide right of the goal.

The Roadrunners return to action at Rice on Sunday, Sept. 23. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
