UTSA set for Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

SAN ANTONIO — 
Fresh off winning the season-opening Lady Maxwell Invitational, the UTSA women's golf team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 17-18, at Cherokee Country Club (par 71/5,897 yards).

The Roadrunners will face BYU, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Illinois, Iowa, Kent State, Kentucky, Maryland, Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Dakota State, Tennessee and UCF in the 54-hole event. The field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round is set for Tuesday. UTSA opened the 2018-19 campaign by capturing the Lady Maxwell Invitational title on Aug. 31-Sept. 2 in Ardmore, Okla. Three Roadrunners placed in the top 10, led by runner-up Hannah Holzmann, who fired a 2-over-par 215 (69-71-75). Julie Houston tied for fourth place with a 218 (73-72-73) and Ana Gonzalez carded a 221 (75-78-68) to tie for seventh.

The Roadrunners finished in a tie for fourth with a 10-over 862 at last year's Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship behind a runner-up showing from Gonzalez. The Monterrey, Mexico, native set a school record for lowest 54-hole scorecard after she posted an 8-under 205 (70-67-68).
