TULSA, Okla. – Freshman Lexi Bolton scored a goal in each half to guide UTSA to a 2-0 victory over Oral Roberts on Friday night at the Case Soccer Complex.
Bolton, a native of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, put the Roadrunners (2-1) ahead in the 19th minute. Channing Machen passed the ball to Bolton, who took a left-footed strike that found the net inside the far post.
Sixty-one minutes later, Bolton struck again.
She dribbled into the box and around the goalkeeper before putting the ball into the back of the net to double UTSA's advantage.
On the other end of the field, Michelle Cole secured her second shutout of the campaign, as the senior goalkeeper posted a match-high six saves.
In all, the Golden Eagles attempted 14 shots, but the six on target were turned away by Cole.
Meanwhile, the Roadrunners posted eight shots with five on goal.
Bolton took four of the eight attempts, including three on target with the two scores. Jordyn Lacy and Marianne Hernandez also put one shot apiece between the pipes that was saved.
UTSA will wrap up its season-opening road trip with a stop at Colorado (1-0-1) on Friday, Aug. 31. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. (CT) at Prentup Field in Boulder, Colorado.
