Riley sets UTSA long jump record as part of decathlon at NCAA Championships opening day

EUGENE, Ore. – Adrian Riley set the UTSA long jump record and currently sits in 10th place in the decathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships after accumulating 4,086 points through five events on Wednesday at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. In addition to Riley's performances, Patrick Prince earned honorable mention All-American honors in the 110m hurdles.
 
MULTIS
Riley, a senior from Kingston, Jamaica, ran a personal-best 10.82 in the 100m to place fifth overall and garner 901 points. In the long jump he totaled 1,038 points with a UTSA overall long jump record mark of 7.91m, which was good for third in the field. Riley leapt 7.78m on his first attempt, then 7.73m on his second before unleashing his record-setting performance. He totaled 625 points in the shot put with a best heave of 12.30m. He opened the discipline with his 12.30m heave before fouling on his second attempt a registering a 12.01m his final time in the ring. Riley then cleared 1.95m in the high jump for 758 points. He made it over 1.86m and 1.92m on his first attempt before clearing his final height of scoring height on his third attempt. In the final event of the day, Riley clocked a 51.12 in the 400m dash to earn 764 points.

 
HURDLES
Prince, a Conroe, Texas, native, clocked a 14.10 in the 110m hurdles to place eighth in his heat and 20th overall. The time, which did not advance Prince to the finals, is good for USTFCCCA Honorable Mention All-American honors. Prince is UTSA's first 110m hurdles All-American.
