Prince advances to quarterfinal at NCAA West Preliminary

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The UTSA track & field's Patrick Prince ran the eighth fastest time in the 110m hurdles to qualify for the quarterfinal and Vasha Sheriff placed 21st in the 400m quarterfinal during the second day of the 2018 NCAA West Preliminary on Friday.

HURDLES
Prince, a junior from Conroe, Texas, ran an advancing time of 13.95 in the men's 110m hurdles. A three-time NCAA qualifier in the 110m hurdles, Prince placed second in his heat, which automatically moved him to Saturday's quarterfinal. The C-USA 110m hurdles champion placed eighth overall in the 48-competitor field.

SPRINTS
After running an advancing time of 47.01 in the first round, Sheriff clocked a 47.18 in the quarterfinal to place seventh in his heat and 21st in the 24-member quarterfinal. The junior form Amarillo does not advance to the NCAA National Championship in the 400m, but still has a chance to make the trip to Eugene with UTSA's school-record-holding 4x400m relay team (contested Saturday).
