SAN ANTONIO – Fresh off clinching a berth in the upcoming Conference USA Championship, the UTSA baseball team will return to Roadrunner Field for its final home stand of the regular season. The Roadrunners will face Abilene Christian in the final non-conference game of the campaign. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.• The first 100 fans in the gates on Tuesday will receive a free taco from Taco Palenque.
• The game will be streamed free of charge on the UTSA Athletics Facebook page.
UTSA (28-21) took two of three games at Old Dominion last weekend to clinch the postseason berth. The Roadrunners won the first and third games of the series behind offensive outbursts. UTSA collected 17 hits in an 11-1 win on Friday night. The bats were quiet in a 7-0 loss on Saturday, but the team rebounded for an 11-3 victory on Sunday with 16 knocks.
Right-hander Kyrell Miller is scheduled to start on the mound on Tuesday for the Roadrunners. Miller, who has one start this spring, is 3-1 with a 4.10 ERA in 17 appearances. He has struck out 30 and walked only seven, while limiting opposing hitters to a .255 batting average.
The Wildcats (21-29) were swept in a three-game Southland Conference series at Northwestern State last weekend.
Abilene Christian has not named a starting pitcher, as of Monday afternoon.
Tuesday's matchup marks just the third meeting between the two teams and first since 2003. The two programs have split the two previous meetings, both played in San Antonio. UTSA posted a 4-1 victory in the last matchup, which took place on April 22, 2003.
