SAN ANTONIO – Former UTSA men's basketball center James Ringholt has signed a professional contract to play basketball within the South West Metro Pirates organization in his native Australia.
Ringholt, who graduated from UTSA this past weekend, will compete with the New Life Restorations Pirates of the Queensland Basketball League.
"I am really excited to continue my basketball career back home in Australia," said Ringholt. "I cannot thank the coaches and staff at UTSA enough for all they have done for me the last four years. The points of my game that I have learned and developed while in San Antonio will greatly help me as I start my professional career."
"We are really excited to have James join our club this season," said Pirates head coach Mick Downer. "He has learned a lot from his time in the college system and is looking forward to continuing his basketball journey back in Brisbane. He will join the team a few weeks into the season and we can't wait to work with him on our program."
Ringholt closed his UTSA career with 75 games played, including 12 starts. The 6-foot-10 big man shot 33.0 percent for his career and grabbed 99 rebounds. He totaled a single-game career-high 13 points behind three 3-pointers and a free throw as UTSA defeated WKU his junior season.
Ringholt joins Jeromie Hill as the latest former Roadrunners to sign professionally in their native Australia after exhausting their NCAA eligibility.
